"The addition of the Foundation to the Tribe’s charitable endeavors continues the tribal tradition of being a strong community partner and making human investments for the benefit of all." -- Sue Shaffer, Chairman, Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians

The Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities in which they live and work.

In 1997 the Tribe formalized this tradition of philanthropy by establishing a grant making Foundation, first known as the Cow Creek Seven Feathers Foundation.

In the spring of 2000 the Foundation changed its name to the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, to emphasize that it is a private, independent foundation, representing the Tribe, and not to be confused with one of the Tribe's many economic development endeavors, the Seven Feathers Resort.

Each year the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation makes grants to eligible non-profit organizations in communities in Douglas, Coos, Lane, Deschutes, Klamath, Jackson and Josephine counties.

As of January 2008, the Cow Creek Foundation has funded 761 grants for a total of $8,371,317 to community organizations in the seven county area.

The Foundation invites proposals, using its application format, for its grantmaking program from qualified tax-exempt applicants in the seven county area of southern Oregon. Please note that applicants operating projects outside of the seven county area are not eligible to apply for Foundation grants. Applicants should take note of the purpose and priorities of the Foundation, as well as eligibility requirements and considerations prior to making application.

Specific information, including a grant application and grant guidelines, are available at this web site, or in printed form from the Foundation office.
