Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation And The Cow Creek Band Of The Umpqua Tribe Of Indians Announce June 2002 Grant Recipients
The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation and the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians distributed $554,524 in their spring cycle of philanthropic giving. Forty three charitable organizations were on hand to meet the members of the Foundation Board of Directors and receive their grants from the Foundation at a ceremony held at the Seven Feathers Hotel and Resort Conference Center in Canyonville on June 20.
This marked the ninth round of grants awarded by the Foundation, which was established in October of 1997 by the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians. Since the Foundations inception 261 grants totaling $2,879,756 have been given. The mission of the Foundation is to offer assistance in youth education, strengthening youth and family, provide positive youth development and add to the quality of life for people residing in Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Deschutes, Lane and Coos Counties.

DOUGLAS AND COOS COUNTY:
- Days Creek FFA for agricultural education equipment $4,000,
- Melrose Elementary School for preschool reading project $12,000,
- Phoenix School for grief and loss counselor $12,621,
- South Umpqua High School for classroom equipment $14,945,
- Elkton School District for library furniture $2,530,
- Douglas County Foster Grandparents Program for volunteer support $5,000,
- Oakland FFA for greenhouse construction $6,900,
- Oakland School District for computer upgrades $11,000,
- UCAN Confidence Clinic for self sufficiency programs $20,000,
- Glide High School for wrestling equipment $7,859,
- Camp Millennium for camperships $10,000,
- Boys and Girls Club of Umpqua Valley for Teen Program $18,402,
- Cobb Street Childrens Learning Center for child care support $20,000,
- Umpqua Community College for child care component of South Umpqua Technology Center $15,555,
- SWOCAC Great Afternoons for child care support $5,000,
- Douglas ESD for child care provider and parenting training $9,000,
- CASA of Douglas County for volunteer support $20,000,
- Battered Persons Advocacy for vehicle purchase $15,000,
- Umpqua Community Development Corporation for kitchen equipment for Myrtle Point community building $20,000.

- Jackson County School District for after school and family program $10,000,
- Washington Elementary School for classroom equipment $17,588,
- Southern Oregon University Native American Youth Academy for summer tuition $5,000,
- Jackson Education Services District for wheelchair accessible greenhouse $10,000,
- Sugarloaf Community Association for science and classroom equipment $10,000,
- Rogue River School District for computers and software $20,000,
- Pacifica: a Garden in the Siskiyous for science curriculum school partnership $18,824,
- Oregon Parent Information and Resource Center for after school program $18,656,
- Southern Oregon Public Television for child care provider training and materials $20,000,
- On Track Inc for parent training $15,270, Ashland Community Hospital Foundation for Trinity Respite Center $11,960,
- Illinois Valley Family Coalition for capital improvements to community building $8,747,
- TACS Inc for Southern Oregon Nonprofit Technical assistance project.

- Chandler Center for Community Leadership for youth stewards project $19,627,
- Friend of the Children for youth mentor program $17,740,
- Committed Partners for Youth for mentor program $15,000,
- Jasper Mountain for therapeutic photographic project $8,800,
- CASA of Oregon for individual development account program $15,000,
- Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation for low income home ownership instruction $12,000,
