Winston Area Community Partnership Receives Buss Rondeau Award
Roseburg, Oregon........The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation named the Winston Area Community Partnership (WACP) the Buss Rondeau Award recipient for this round of giving. WACP has been awarded $10,000 for the construction of a Skate and Bike Park in Civic Wayside Park.
"The Winston Area Community Partnership has worked really hard to make their dream of having a skate park become a reality. The efforts of the adults and kids alike really show a commitment to bettering their community," said Carma Mornarich, Executive Director of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation.
Buss Rondeau, who died in 2000, was a Cow Creek Tribal Board member as well as founding member of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Board. Since his death, the Buss Rondeau Award has been given each granting cycle by the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Board of Directors to an organization that has a goal perceived by the Foundation Board to be "…close to the spirit of Buster Rondeau."
"Buster felt that providing opportunities for education were the keys to personal success," said Sue Shaffer, Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Board Chair.
Earlier recipients of the Buss Rondeau award include the Grants Pass High School Foundation College Dreams project, the City of Sutherlin for its children's library, the Sutherlin Booster Club, the Sugarloaf Community Association, Healing Reins of Bend, and the Oregon Children's Foundation. During his adult years, Buss Rondeau lived in Sutherlin.
Buss Rondeau's widow, Polly Rondeau, will present the award to the WACP.
