January 7, 2011-Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Awards $444,587 to 53 Non-Profits
Canyonville, Oregon............On Thursday,January 13, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Seven Feathers Convention Center in Canyonville, the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation (CCUIF) will award $444,587 to 53 non-profits from seven counties in southwestern Oregon. Once again, in its 28th round of giving, the CCUIF continues the Cow Creek Tribal tradition of giving to community.Foundation Executive Director Carma Mornarich says, "Making sure people have food continued to be a very high priority during this round of giving. Other goals that are important to the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, such as education and youth programs, also received strong support."
The mission of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation is to offer assistance in youth education, to strengthen youth and family, to provide positive youth development, and to add to the quality of life for people in Coos, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Lane Counties in Oregon. Since its beginning in 1997, the CCUIF has awarded $10,846,628 in grants to non-profit organizations. Awards are made semiannually, in January and June. In June of 2010, the CCUIF awarded $451,949 to 51 different non-profits in the seven county area.
The 53 grants awarded next Thursday for this round of giving include: three grants in Coos County will receive $21,000, nine grants in Deschutes County will receive $63,956, ten grants in Douglas County will receive $80,500, eleven grants in Jackson County will receive $105,715, two grants in Josephine County will receive $23,830, two grants in Klamath County will receive $15,000, eight grants in Lane County will receive $71,257, and $63,329 will be awarded to eight grants that serve multiple counties.
Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation award decisions are made in addition to the philanthropic decisions made by the Cow Creek Tribal board.
